#beginquote# Beat is indicated by the time signature that specifies how many beats in the measure. Beat is the pulse. For example, in 4/4 time, there are 4 beats/pulses in each measure. Rhtyhm is the organization of those beats. For example, Ta Ta Ti-Ti Ta, or 1 2 3+(and) 4. Melody is what those rhtyhms make. "Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream" is a melody made from pitches and rhtyhms. The rhythm in 4/4 time would be counted as 1 2 3+ 4, 1+ 2+ 34 or quarter-note (1) quarter-note(2), eighth-note eighth-note (3+),quarter-note (4), etc. #endquote#
