#beginquote# You are so right. How can they call rappers and the performers who play and for lack of another word sing artists. The music is just three or four notes that someone put on paper and a lot of racket, plus those who "sing" are so miked and for the most part have no real training - they are maybe entertainers but are not in any form of the word artist. There are so many well trained and talented musicians who never make it - wonder why. Betty Buckley, Barbara Cook, and a few others whose name escapes me are artists. You and your wife, my mother and father and there are many others are artists. Horn, you have said it so much better than I, the years of training etc. - and although I haven't watched American Idol - (I've seen clips) it does give the wrong impression. The other dance show on ABC is a joke. The couple with real class and musicality came in second - the flashy couple won. Have to add that learning to play the piano (started about 4 1/2 ago), has not only opened a new door for me but also an appreciation for music and the musicians who play in orchestras and Broadway musicals. :) #endquote#
