#beginquote# Pick up your sticks and with a firm wrist and place them on your thumb and index finger. For every stroke you should get two bounces. Practice that for a while and when you get comfortable. It's called a loose rebound, practice with one hand first and then the other. Then begin to alternate strokes and gradually increase tempo as you get more comfortable and consistent with what your doing. Then close in the other three fingers around the stick once you can consistently play a role. Soon enough you will get a good roll down. I don't know if you can read music but on a G Cleff find where middle A would be and that represents a hit on the snaredrum. It's going to look like a bunch of 16th notes and underneath you will see something that looks like RRLL RRLL RRLL in each measure, thats when they will want to see you do a roll.:D #endquote#
